Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Republican Mitt Romney held nothing back Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, accusing Democratic President Barack Obama of presiding over the “greatest job loss in modern American history.” His speech was reported by ‘Reuters’ to hint strongly at a run for president by the former governor of Massachusetts.

Romney ran for the Republican nomination back in 2008, but lost the bid to John McCain. In his speech on Friday, which immediately attacked the current president for his part in the job crisis, Romney stated, “Let me make this very clear. If I decide to run for president, it won’t take me two years to wake up to the job crisis threatening America,” as the audience of eleven thousand at the Conservative Political Action Conference cheered him on.

Romney went on to say, “President Barack Obama has stood watch over the greatest job loss in modern American history. And that, my friends, is one inconvenient truth that will haunt this president throughout history. It’s going to take more than new rhetoric to put Americans back to work. It’s going to take a new president,” he added.

Romney is likely to announce his campaign in the upcoming months, as he is already in the advanced stages of planning it. Among Republicans, Mitt Romney is said to be polling well, and is leading in New Hampshire, a very import early voting state.

Also in his attack on the current administration, Romney attacked the foreign policies of Obama. He pointed out that the president had failed to handle actions which were belligerent from Iran and North Korea, and added that a nuclear treaty with Russia was in favor of Moscow. Romney mocked the fact that Obama had been given the Nobel Peace Prize, and stated, “I surely hope that at some point in the near future, the president will finally be able to construct a foreign policy, any foreign policy.”

Romney also plans to cut government and explained, “We cut government in Minnesota and if we can do it there, we can do it anywhere.”
