Mitch McConnell Targets President Barack Obama

Nov 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Republican Kentucky Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has made his intentions clear and some Democrats might not like the way he puts it. The political leader said in a statement recently that the primary focus of the Republicans would be to deny President Barack Obama a second term in office. The comment raised the ire of many who felt that the Republican Senate candidate was insulting the American President and targeting him.
Mitch McConnell explained in another interview that the primary objective of the Republicans is to repeal the health care reforms, cut spending and shrink the size and scope of the government. He added that the only way to do it was to have someone in the White House who could not veto any of these things. He said that though it can be hoped that the President will listen to the Republicans in the senate, it cannot be the basis of the plan for the Republicans.
Mitch McConnell and fellow Republican John Boehner, the new Speaker of the House of Representatives have been invited to dinner by Barack Obama on November 18. President Barack Obama said that the objective of the meeting was to end the gridlock between the two sides. He said that he wanted the push the American people’s agenda forward through substantial talks with the Republican leaders.
Mitch McConnell, however, has stated that he is looking forward to the 2012 elections and also believes that they have a clear chance of getting into the majority in the near future. Mitch McConnell said that he was prepared to work with President Barack Obama only if his government dropped the ‘big government’ agenda.
