Missing nurse case: CBI questions suspect’s kin
November 28th, 2011 - 10:12 pm ICT by IANSJodhpur, Nov 28 (IANS) The CBI Monday questioned family members of Shahabuddin, the key suspect in the case of missing nurse Bhanwari Devi who featured on a CD in a compromising position with sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna, sources said.
Shahabuddin, arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has revealed the nurse is dead, sources said.
“Some family members, including his three sons, were called for questioning. The CBI is trying to ascertain whether Shahabuddin had confided in them about the nurse’s abduction and murder,” a police officer, who did not want to be named, told IANS.
Bhanwari Devi went missing from Jodhpur’s Bilara area Sep 1. Prominent Jat leader Maderna was sacked from the state cabinet by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Oct 16 over allegations that he had a role in her disappearance.
Maderna allegedly features on a CD in a compromising position with Bhanwari Devi. It was alleged that the nurse had started blackmailing Maderna on the basis of this CD.
A CBI team is in Mount Abu hill station, some 300 km from here, for interrogating Roshan Bano, a friend of Shahabuddin. They also searched her house on Abu Road Sunday.
A Central Forensic Science Laboratory team left for Delhi Sunday after examining some lime kilns in rural areas here for three days in search of Bhanwari Devi’s body, sources said.
