Miliband to visit Amethi with Rahul
January 13th, 2009 - 7:34 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Jan 13 (IANS) Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband will visit his Lok Sabha constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh Wednesday, according a party official.”A British delegation will be (in Amethi) for two days,” Uttar Pradesh Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh told IANS.
During a recent meeting with Gandhi in Britain, Miliband expressed his desire to see developmental activities in the rural parts of India. Gandhi then invited him to his constituency.
“They will be inspecting various self-help groups and healthcare schemes introduced by Rahulji sometime ago, especially for women. They will also have a first hand experience of the cooperative dairy scheme,” Singh said.
The British delegation will meet and interact with the beneficiaries of various schemes run by NGOs.
