New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) Senior government officials Monday evening deliberated on the Gujjar violence in Rajasthan and the law and order situation in the state. Cabinet Secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar and Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta held a meeting Monday evening on the Gujjar agitation that has left 37 people dead. A letter written by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also figured in the talks, according to sources.

A cabinet meeting later this week is expected to discuss the issue. The Gujjars, who are demanding a Scheduled Tribe status in order to get more government benefits, have launched a rail blockade in Rajasthan, disrupting traffic at many places.
