Lucknow, Dec 29 (IANS) In a sudden somersault, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has decided to alter the motto behind her birthday - from “Fund raising” to “People’s Welfare”.
According to an official press release, Mayawati’s birthday Jan 15 will now be observed as “Jan Kalyankari Diwas” (People’s Welfare Day), unlike “Arthik Sahyog Diwas” (Fund Collection Day) as she had herself declared earlier.

“The day will be marked by announcement of special schemes and programmes for the welfare of the poor, widows, students and the old and the infirm and other downtrodden people of the state,” said the release.
