Mayawati rues lack of central assistance
August 15th, 2011 - 12:23 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 15 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Monday said the central government was not making efforts to remove backwardness from the state.
In her Independence Day speech, Mayawati said: “We are still to receive any financial assistance under the Rs.80,000 crore package we had sought from the centre for undertaking developmental projects, particularly in Bundelkhand and Poorvanchal regions.”
But she said “with its limited resources, our government has taken several schemes for the welfare of the people of the regions”.
She unfurled the tricolour in front of the state assembly here. The chief minister awarded medals to three police officers at a ceremonial function.
