Meerut, March 2 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati Sunday evening transferred Meerut District Magistrate Anil Kumar Sagar and suspended two civic officials after she found inadequate their explanations for dirty conditions of a poor neighbourhood here. Mayawati, on her way back from Karnal in Haryana to Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, halted her convoy at the Meerut byeass and walked through the streets of Shivpuri.
On finding streets dirty and gutters choked, she instantly called the district magistrate and the municipal commissioner and asked them to explain.
Not satisfied with their replies, she on the spot transferred Sagar and suspended municipal commissioner Ashok Verma and municipal engineer Jayanti Srivastava.
