Washington DC, Dec 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Max Baucus has finally admitted to his relationship with his aide Melodee Hanes. Max Baucus is divorced from his wife Wanda and this particular relationship happened post his divorce. Baucus spokesman Ty Matsdorf said that Baucus and Hanes are now in a “mature and happy relationship” and that their relationship was not a cause of either of their divorces.

Max Baucus’s divorce happened last year, after he separated from his wife Wanda in April. They were married for 25 years. In their statement they said that, “they parted ways with amicably and with mutual respect”.

Melodee Hanes was formerly the director of the senator’s state office, and she was one of three names Baucus, D-Montana, forwarded to President Barack Obama to be considered for the U.S. attorney job, Roll Call reported.

“Senator Baucus recommended each of the three candidates based solely on qualifications, and merit, knowing whichever one the White House selected would serve Montana well,” Matsdorf said.

Later Melodee Hanes felt that it was not appropriate that she be considered for the prestigious job, just on account of being Max Baucus’s mistress so she withdrew her name from consideration. Later Max revealed that he and Melodee wanted to live together in Washington, so they withdrew her name from the list.
