Mauritius leader salutes Basu

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) Mauritius opposition leader Paul Berenger has described former West Bengal chief minister Jyoti Basu, who died Sunday, as “an intrepid leader of the working class in India”.
Berenger made the comments in Port Louis while meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, who is leading an Indian parliamentary delegation to Mauritius, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said Thursday.
Basu, who was chief minister of West Bengal for 23 years, was a founder leader of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
