Maulana Wahiduddin to get Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavna Award
August 9th, 2010 - 10:30 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, (IANS) The 18th Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award will be given to Maulana Wahiduddin Khan for his contribution towards promotion of communal harmony and peace, it was announced Monday.
Congress treasurer Motilal Vora, who is member secretary of the advisory committee of the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award, said in a statement that the award will be given to Maulana Wahiduddin Khan for his “outstanding contribution towards the promotion of communal harmony, peace and goodwill”.
The award is given every year on the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi (Aug 20). It carries a citation and a cash reward of Rs.5 lakh.
The previous recipients of the award include Mother Teresa, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Dilip Kumar, Nirmala Deshpande and Lata Mangeshkar.
