Oct.27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The White House as shaken by a blow delivered no by an outsider, but by someone who was very much an insider. United States diplomat Matthew Hoh has resigned as a gesture of protest against the strategy of the United States in the current war in Afghanistan. He is the first official to have taken such a drastic measure as a sign of protest.

Matthew Hoh stated in his resignation letter that he is resigning because he no longer understands the purpose nor the strategy of the presence of the United States in the war of Afghanistan. He had officially resigned on the 10th of September, but it was published on the 27th of October. In it, he further stated that he felt that the American presence in the Afghan war is only serving the purpose of aggravating the conditions, as it is fueling the internal Taliban revolts.

Matthew Hoh was formerly a Marine Corps Captain. He had fought in the war against Iraq. He went on to join the United States State Department. He was posted in the Zabul province of Afghanistan. He was the senior most civilian from the United States to be posted in Afghanistan. He insisted that he was not resigning in protest at the method the Americans followed in the war, but because of it’s futility and lack of necessity. He said that the United States is allowing it’s troops to die fruitlessly in what is essentially a civil war in a far-off country. He feels that most of the Talibans are fighting the US troops merely because they are posted there.

I salute Matthew Hoh for telling the truth corrupt American politicians are in denial of, says this 30 year US Army veteran, former Paratrooper/Green Beret.
