Mark Sanford Re-Unites With Argentine “Soul Mate”

maria May 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Last year, when the governor of South Carolina went missing, no one knew what a huge change was about to take place. He soon showed back up, and the story broke that he had been in Argentina, with his mistress. Disappearances with no explanations and suspicious actions cost the man his marriage, and most likely his political future. His wife left him with their two children, and the state of South Carolina was torn as many felt he should be removed from office, while others felt his private life did not concern them. Now it seems that Governor Mark Sanford is trying to salvage the relationship with the mistress he called his “soulmate”.

Mark Sanford has admitted to re-uniting with his former mistress on a Florida vacation over the weekend. According to CNN, Sanford made the following statement, “As a matter of record, everybody in this room knows exactly who I was with over the weekend,” Sanford told reporters during a press conference. “That is no mystery to anybody given what I said last summer. And you know the purpose was obviously to see if something could be restarted on that front, given the rather enormous geographic gulf between us, and time will tell, I don’t know if it will or it won’t.”

Sanford has had a history of talking to the press, a little too much at times, and this has probably hurt his career as much as the affair itself did. Although there were times that he claimed to wish to be out of the spotlight, he was constantly talking to the press about his affair last year, even telling them that his mistress was his soul mate. Soon after, his wife, whom he was supposedly trying to reconcile with, left with their kids. They are now divorced. Sanford added this to his statements to the press yesterday, “I think, that, you know, those two things I owe you all. But this obsession with one’s personal life at some point has got to end. I think the people of South Carolina have so far along moved past this that it is ridiculous that some — and I say — an isolated some in the media have been preoccupied and focused on it.”
