Mark Sanford South Carolina, Mar 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has agreed to pay $74,000 as fines. These fines were leveled on him to resolve numerous charges, as he had violated many state ethics laws when he was campaigning. On his campaign trail, he had violated many laws, as he traveled with his Argentinean mistress, and also blew up the taxpayer’s money on his flings.

The State Ethics Commission said on Thursday that they had filed 37 civil charges against the Governor. Sanford in his defense issued a statement which said that he would have had been happy and vindicated, if the commission had heard his version of the case, but all the same he agreed to pay the fines, because he didn’t want to carry on with the “an endless media circus.”

Meanwhile Sanford’s divorce also came through on Thursday, and he also agreed to pay such a hefty fine as well on the same day. The government had started to take stock of the Governor’s expenses last year, when he suddenly disappeared for 5 days, after misinforming his staff that he was going hiking on the Appalachian Trail. But instead he went off to Argentina, and later came back and confessed to the media about his Argentinean mistress, whom he called his soul mate.
