August 11, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The profile Newt Gingrich in the Esquire succeeds in providing us with an insight into his personal life. Gingrich, the former House Speaker is trying to make a comeback after resigning in disgrace well over ten years ago.

While Newt Gingrich was interviewed for his part of the story, the messy details were made public by Marianne, his ex-wife who was divorced from him in 2000.

She revealed that she had been asked to marry him much too early. He wasn’t even divorced from his first wife Jackie Battley back then. She said that she should have known that there was a problem. The pattern repeated itself once again when he sought to marry Callista Bisek, his wife at present. She had been the congressional aide then. Marianne went on to add that that the Ex-House Speaker had asked Bisek to marry him even before he asked her for a divorce.

The intersection of both his public and personal life gets silhouetted as Marianne goes public revealing the gory details of his personal life. She also adds that Gingrich simply wanted her to tolerate his affair but she put her foot down.

But the most astonishing part was that he went ahead and delivered a speech at Erie, Pennsylvania, which was all about family values and compassion. He did not really believe in practicing what he preaches as he told his wife then that he needed to make such speeches because people wanted to hear them. It does not really have to be connected to his real life, he said.

She concluded by saying that he had been brought up in a poor family and was easily impressed by status, position and money. He now aspires to be somebody and prove himself.

So will he be able to run for the post of the President in 2012? Let us wait and see!
