Raipur, Sep 26 (IANS) The banned insurgent outfit, Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), has threatened Chhattisgarh politicians who plan to contest assembly polls due in the state this November.The group has pasted banners and pamphlets in its stronghold - the state’s southern mineral rich Bastar region. They read: “Is bar chunenge nahi, dhunenge” (This time we will not elect, we will beat up).
The outfit that runs a de facto administration in Bastar’s forested interiors announced a poll boycott and warned the politicians to not contest assembly polls.
The threat to assault those contesting polls has created panic among politicians who come from interiors of Bastar region spread over about 40,000 sq km, besides the state’s western Rajnandgaon district bordering Maharashtra.
