Maoists are dummies of CPI-M: MamataMay 10th, 2009 - 10:27 pm ICT by IANS
Kolkata, May 10 (IANS) Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Sunday said Maoist guerrillas of West Bengal were dummies planted by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) to split the anti-Left votes in the state.
“The so-called Maoists are nothing but dummy organisations of the CPI-M in the state. These people, who are calling them Maoists here, are just distorting the ideology of the real Maoist movement,” Banerjee told a press conference, organised by the Kolkata Press Club here.
The CPI-M is the major constituent of the ruling Left Front in West Bengal.
“They (Maoists) are just helping the CPI-M by calling for vote boycott,” Banerjee said. “If they were really anti-CPI-M, they would not call for vote boycotts in the elections.”
Criticising the role of the CPI-M on the land acquisition issue, the Trinamool chief said the Left Front government had no political vision to develop the state.
“They only know the path of violence. They’ve played with the interests of common people, and especially with the minorities.”
“We want agriculture and industry to smile together. The Trinamool Congress is not against industrialisation in the state,” she said.
