Manohar Joshi stable after angioplasty
April 12th, 2010 - 9:56 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, April 12 (IANS) Former Lok Sabha speaker and Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi was in stable condition Monday after undergoing angioplasty at the Lilavati Hospital here, a hospital spokesman said.
“Manohar Joshi underwent successful angiography and angioplasty. He is reported to be well,” said the spokesman.
Jalil Parker, respiratory and pulmonary consultant, said Joshi’s angioplasty lasted an hour.
“He is recovering and is reportedly keeping well. He has a history of heart problems. He will be discharged in a day or two,” said Parker.
Joshi, 73, headed a Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janta Party government in Maharashtra in 1995-99.
He was the central minister of heavy industries in the central government and then became speaker of the Lok Sabha in 2002. He held the position till 2004.
