Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi to tour Tamil Nadu

Chennai, May 7 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi are set to tour Tamil Nadu, where elections will be held May 13 in the last phase of the Lok Sabha polls.
“The prime minister’s visit to Chennai is scheduled on May 9 afternoon where he will address the media and also an election meeting. The meeting venue is yet to be finalised,” state’s Congress Legislative Party leader D. Sudharsanam told reporters here Thursday.
Rahul Gandhi will fly from Delhi to Madurai May 8.
“From Madurai, he will heli-hop to Sivaganga and Trichy to address election meetings there before returning to Delhi,” he added.
Other Congress leaders who will address meetings in the state are Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi.
Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram is seeking re-election from Sivaganga while Sarubala Thondaman is contesting from Trichy.
