Manmohan Singh assures Chouhan of developmental support

Manmohan SinghNew Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday assured Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of full support for the development of the state.“Manmohan Singh has assured Shivraj Signh Chouhan of full support on all development issues saying that is what people expect,” a statement issued here said.

Chouhan, who led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to victory in last month’s assembly elections, was in the national capital and paid a courtesy call on the prime minister.

He urged the prime minister to set up a National Security Guard (NSG) centre in Madhya Pradesh, official sources said.

In case a decision is taken to deploy NSG commandos in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government would provide free land and other necessary facilities, he told the prime minister.

Chouhan also apprised Manmohan Singh of the state’s problems in the power sector and sought establishment of nuclear energy plants at Bhimpura in Shivpuri district and Bargi (Chutka) in Mandla district.

“A request in writing has already been made to the Atomic Energy Department in this regards,” he added.
