Manmohan rally cancelled due to rainMay 4th, 2009 - 9:28 pm ICT by IANS
Faridabad, May 4 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had to cancel his public meeting in this Haryana town bordering the national capital Monday because of inclement weather after sudden rains.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told the gathering waiting to hear the prime minister that his flight did not get permission because of the weather.
Singh had been campaigning in the state earlier in the day.
Hooda conveyed the prime minister’s “greeting and appeal” to vote for Congress candidate Avtar Singh Badhana from Faridabad.
Badhana, a sitting MP, faces a tough time in this election because three party legislators in Faridabad had shown their opposition to his candidature.
Over 2,000 people had gathered at the Dussehra Grounds in the town where the rally was to take place. Prithviraj Chavan, Congress general secretary in charge of Haryana, was also present.
