Manipur legislator killed in Delhi accident
August 19th, 2011 - 12:29 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, August 18 (IANS) A Congress member of the Manipur legislative assembly died in a road accident here Thursday, police said.
Elangbam Suraj Singh, who was elected from the Yaiskul assembly constituency in Imphal in the December 2009 polls, met with a road accident at Mayur Vihar Phase 2 at around 2 a.m, police said.
Singh, who was driving along with his friend Reginald John Sinclair, 45, when their vehicle was hit by a speeding vehicle while taking an u-turn at Mayur Vihar Phase 2 traffic lights, police said.
The two were rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared Singh dead. Sinclair was critically injured and is under treatment.
After post-mortem, the body was sent to his family at Imphal, polic said.
