Man identifies father’s clothes in skeletal remains
June 6th, 2011 - 11:48 pm ICT by IANSMidnapore (West Bengal), June 6 (IANS) A man came forward Monday to identify his father’s decayed clothes among the seven human skeletons and bones recovered in West Bengal’s West Midnapore district, police said.
Shyamal Acharya, a villager of Piasaal in Keshpur, said: “My father along with six Trinamool Congress supporters were killed and buried by CPI-M (Communist Party of India-Marxist) cadres in 2002.”
He also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter after lodging a complaint with the Keshpur police station in the district.
In the complaint, he said that he could identify his father’s clothes and remains in the clutter of bones.
Human skeletons and many pieces of bones were found buried near the house of heavyweight CPI-M leader and former state minister Sushanta Ghosh in Chandrakona area of West Midnapore June 4 (Saturday).
The villagers of Palasia and Anandapur areas claimed the skeletons were of their relatives, who were Trinamool Congress supporters and went missing in September 2002.
The state police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is probing the incident. The samples of the skeletons have already been sent to Kolkata for DNA tests.
West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Praveen Tripathi said: “Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) today (Monday) collected samples for testing. We cannot say anything unless we get the reports.”
