Mamata Banerjee Kolkata, May 18 (IANS) Trinamool Congress head and chief minister-designate Mamata Banerjee will address the first meeting of the newly elected Trinamool Congress legislature party in the state assembly on May 23 and give directions towards the making of “a new Bengal”, party leader Partha Chatterjee said Wednesday.

Chatterjee, deputy leader of the Trinamool Legislature party, said: “On coming Monday (May 23) our leader Mamata Banerjee will address the newly elected Trinamool Congress legislature party in the state assembly. In her speech she will give the roadmap in our effort to create a new Bengal and discuss party’s policy.”

Earlier this week, Mamata Banerjee was unanimously elected leader of the Trinamool Congress legislature party.

Chatterjee also mentioned that his party under the leadership of Banerjee will “bring back the past glory of Bengal”.

“We want to bring back the past glory of Bengal by following the direction of our leader Mamata Banerjee. We want that during the swearing in ceremony of Banerjee all the past governors and former chief ministers of the state to be present during the ceremony.”

“We will be happy if Buddhadeb-babu (former chief minister) also comes during the ceremony. It’s time for creation of new Bengal,” said Chatterjee.
