Mallika Sarabhai files nomination from Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar, April 2 (IANS) Noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai Thursday filed her nomination for the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat as an independent candidate against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial nominee L.K. Advani.
Sarabhai said she was contesting the polls to give democracy back to the people of Gujarat. “I am here on the plea of the people of the state to contest the polls,” Sarabhai told reporters outside the collectorate here.
Advani is seeking re-election from the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat for the fifth consecutive time.
