Boston, Mar 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Harry Markopolos, the former securities industry executive who is known to be the whistleblower in the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, is creating headlines lately as he has come up with a new book which provides revealing insights about the $65 billion fraud. The new memoir which has been titled “No One Would Listen: A True Financial Thriller” tracks the fraud investigator’s journey to unravel details about Bernard Madoff’s investment scandal before it grabbed headlines.
Anticipation is running high about the book as it includes intrinsic details about Harry Markopolos’ investigation into the Madoff investment fraud which is likely the biggest investor fraud to have been ever committed. At the same time, the memoir also features information about how the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission turned a deaf ear to his repeated warnings about the fraud. One of the highlights of the book are the details of how the investigator approached many reporters as well as government officials with his suspicions about Bernard Madoff’s scam but was disregarded by all of them. Moreover, in the book the Boston financial whiz also recounts that he even considered killing Bernard Madoff if he ever felt under threat by the Ponzi schemer.
Harry Markopolos got a hinge of the $65 billion Ponzi fraud while attempting to reproduce Bernard Madoff’s implausible investment returns while working for a firm in 2000. Although the investigator’s repeated warnings were ignored, the scam came to light when the former NASDAQ chairman turned himself in the year 2008. After being pleaded guilty for the fraud, Bernard Madoff received a 150 years prison sentence along with restitution of $170 billion in June, 2009.
