Madhya Pradesh plans new financial scheme for panchayats
January 9th, 2012 - 8:34 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Jan 9 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will Tuesday launch a scheme for providing annual funds in one go to over 23,000 panchayats for boosting development works, said an official statement.
Panch Parmeshwar Yojna, a programme of the panchayat and rural development department, would make funds available to panchayats on the basis of the population in their respective villages, said the statement issued Monday.
Till now the funds were given to the 23,010 panchayats in phases under various central and state programmes.
Now, a consolidated amount of Rs.5 lakh will be given to panchayats of villages with up to 2,000 population, Rs.8 lakh to panchayats of villages with 2,500 population, Rs.10 lakh to panchayats of villages with 5,000-10,000 population and Rs.15 lakh for panchayats serving over 10,000 people.
Construction of drains, roads, anganwadi buildings and e-panchayat room will be undertaken with the funds.
