Sonia Gandhi Bhopal, Nov 12 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders finally woke up and came out on to the roads here Friday to protest against the derogatory remarks made by former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief K.S. Sudarshan against Congress president Sonia Gandhi — two days after the incident.

On Wednesday, after the RSS’ nationwide protest over its name being linked to terror, Sudarshan had made derogatory comments against Sonia Gandhi, including calling her a CIA agent.

When Sudarshan’s remarks got published Thursday, there was not a single protest by the state Congress committee barring some statements here — the place of origin of the issue.

On Friday, the women’s cell of the state Congress committee burnt an effigy of Sudarshan and vehemently criticized his remarks on Gandhi. Later, their male counterparts tried to attack the RSS office in Arera Colony here.

The police swung into action and pushed back the Congress workers. However, no prominent leader of the state Congress was present in the protest.
