Madhya Pradesh civic poll dates announced

- Bhopal, Nov 10 (IANS) Polling for a total of 268 municipalities, municipal corporations and nagar panchayats (city councils) will be held in Madhya Pradesh in two phases on Dec 11 and 14, an official said Tuesday.
State Election Commissioner A.V. Singh said counting of votes would be conducted on Dec 15 and the results would be announced Dec 17.
He said that with the announcement of polling dates, the model code of conduct has now come into force across the state.
Notification for the polls will be issued Nov 19 and the filing of the nominations will also commence the same day, Singh told reporters. He added that the last date of filing of nomination papers would be Nov 26 while scrutiny of the nominations would be done on Nov 27 and Nov 30 would be the last date for withdrawal of nominations.
