‘Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh ministers should declare property’
February 20th, 2010 - 11:35 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Feb 20 (IANS) Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said Saturday that chief ministers and ministers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh should declare their property details.
Talking to reporters here, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister alleged that the recent raids by the Income Tax department on Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh proved that bureaucrats were involved in corruption under the patronage of the state governments.
“Both the state are in a severe grip of corruption and the chief ministers and the ministers should declare their property details,” the Congress leader remarked.
Earlier this month, the Income Tax department raided the residences of an IAS couple in Madhya Pradesh - Arvind Joshi and Tinoo Joshi - at Bhopal and of Chhattisgarh IAS official B.L. Agrawal in Raipur and found massive amounts of cash disproportionate to their known source of income.
All the three IAS officials have been suspended by the respective governments.
