Lottery case: Kerala unhappy over Tamil Nadu advocate general
October 6th, 2010 - 4:42 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Oct 6 (IANS) The Kerala government Wednesday decided to take up with Tamil Nadu the issue of Tamil Nadu Advocate General (AG) P.S. Raman appearing in the state high court against the state of Kerala on behalf of a lottery distributor.
“This is not fair on the part of the Tamil Nadu government to send its AG to appear in a case against our government at the Kerala High Court. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will write to his counterpart in Tamil Nadu regarding the matter,” Law Minister M. Vijayakumar told IANS.
The Kerala unit of the Congress party Tuesday objected to Raman appearing on behalf of a lottery distributor, whom party spokesman Abhishek Manu Singhvi earlier defended.
Raman, ahead of appearing for Megha Distributors, agent of Bhutan Lottery in the state, said there was nothing wrong in his appearing in a court outside his state.
After Singhvi withdrew, Raman appeared for the distributor which has had a running feud with the Kerala government over issues pertaining to taxes and the number of draws being held by the lottery.
