New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar Friday greeted people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and said it was a “unique festival which strengthens the spirit of devotion and charity among us”.
“It is not only a pious and joyous occasion but also an appropriate time when we rise above our narrow considerations to think about those who are less-privileged,” the speaker said in her message.
“I take this opportunity to convey my sincerest wishes to all our brothers and sisters in India and elsewhere in the world in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr,” she said.
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan culminates with the sighting of the moon, bringing on the festival of Eid. While some parts of the country are celebrating it Friday, others are doing so Saturday.
