liz-2Washington, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Liz Cheney is being accused of overstepping all codes in going too far in an advertisement that is reported to be taking sharp hits of insults at the Justice Department lawyers who represented the Guantanamo Bay detainees. She has termed them as the “al-Qaeda seven” and stated that their identities are to be revealed. What made the advertisement more controversial is that it depicted Attorney General Eric Holder revealing the names of two lawyers only while he stayed mum about disclosing the identity of seven other. This is exactly where the advertisement draws a line in calling the seven unknown Justice Department officials to be the “al-Qaeda seven”.

On the very same note, Paul Mirengoff also went ahead saying that it’s absolutely inappropriate to call these lawyers to be at par with the same values as that of the ‘The al-Qaeda Seven,’. He proclaimed that the advertisement has been broadcast in a derogatory manner and only hints at the Justice Officials rubbing shoulders with the “al-Qaeda”. Liz Cheney has been accused of McCarthyism by Paul Mirengoff. Besides being the daughter of Ex-Vice President Dick Cheney, she is also the co-founder of the advocacy group called “Keep America Safe,” that was broadcasting the advertisement.

Paul Mirengoff declared that the message which is being spread throughout the commercial is reminiscent of Joe McCarthy’s assertions and his declarations. He makes it a point to state that everyone should remember that Joe McCarthy was a lamentable chapter in American History. He also added that such messages will only generate negativity about government officials in minds of the countrymen.
