Ranchi, Nov 23 (IANS) The Liberhan Commission report into the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition had been deliberately leaked to the media to polarise voters in the forthcoming Jharkhand assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh said Monday.
“The Liberhan report has been selectively leaked by the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government to polarise votes in the Jharkhand assembly elections,” the BJP president, who is here to campaign for the party, told reporters.
“The Liberhan report was submitted to the central government on June 30 and parliament was in session in July. The report was not tabled in parliament in July session. The parliament session is on and, instead of tabling the report in parliament, it has been selectively leaked to the media,” he added.
“The move is to polarise the votes.”
According to a newspaper, the Liberhan probe has indicted former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well as senior BJP leaders L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi.
The five-phase Jharkhand elections begin Nov 25.
