Legislator booked for assaulting BSP leader

Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 4 (IANS) Independent legislator Raghuraj Pratap Singh, along with his 10 supporters, was Tuesday booked for assaulting a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said.
Singh, who represents Kunda assembly seat, had, along with his aides, roughed up a local BSP leader Shiv Prakash Senani at a Durga Puja function in Baghrai area Monday.
“It all started with a verbal duel between the legislator and the BSP leader over performing the prayers. Later, the legislator along with his supporters roughed up the BSP leader and threatened him of dire consequences if the matter was reported to police,” Police Inspector S.S. Sagar told reporters in Pratapgarh town, 150 km from Lucknow.
Police are yet to make any arrest in this regard.
