Oregon, April 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Portland Democrat Rep. Jefferson Smith brought some fun in to the politics in Oregon when he led about a dozen of his colleagues choreographed the lyrics of “Never Gonna Give You Up” in their speech while on the floor. The prank was made last year right in front of the press, staff, the public including lobbyists and of course other colleagues.

A video of the prank has been posted on YouTube. The video which was released on the Internet on the 1st of April this year has gone spiral this week. Already there have been 780,000 views with comments from the viewers suggesting that they like what the lawmakers did.

37-year-old Smith said he was motivated to come up with the concept because he wants people to know that politics is for everyone. He said he encourages people from all walks of life to get involved in politics and not leave it for only the known few.

America is witnessing intense political tension in the country. With struggling economy, the public are divided on almost everything. Differences on the country’s 2011 budget nearly caused a shutdown of the government.
