Left writes to government on n-dealJuly 4th, 2008 - 9:00 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, July 4 (IANS) The Left parties who are meeting here to finalise the modalities of their withdrawal of support to the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Friday have written to External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee asking for the government’s final decision on the India-US civil nuclear deal. The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) led Left parties want the government to clarify whether it is finalising the India specific safeguard agreement with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), a crucial step to take forward the contentious 123 agreement with the US.
The leaders of the Left parties, who are meeting at the CPI-M headquarters here, delivered a letter to the government seeking a specific reply to their questions.
