Left Front partners concerned about price rise, Lalgarh
August 16th, 2009 - 9:44 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Aug 16 (IANS) Constituent parties of the ruling Left Front in West Bengal Sunday expressed concern over the price rise and the ongoing security operation to flush out Maoist rebels from Lalgarh area of the state.
“We raised the price issue in the meeting. We also enquired about the situation in violence-prone Lalgarh in West Midnapore district,” Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) leader and state PWD minister Kshiti Goswami told reporters after the meeting.
The state LF met Sunday to discuss arrangements for a political gathering Aug 31 to observe the 50th year of Food Movement which the Left had led in the state in 1959. The front will observe the occasion at the heart of the city - the Metro Channel.
“We’re expecting a huge gathering on that occasion. The LF will also issue a book and pamphlets explaining the perspective of the food movement,” state LF chairman Biman Bose said.
“We have also asked all LF partners to carry out state-wide political rallies and street meetings in all districts to mobilise the common people,” he said.
