Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Yesterday the GOP led House of Representatives passed a bill that seeks to demolish the much touted health care reform promoted by Barack Obama, the president of USA. However, the move may be thwarted in Senate where Democrats enjoy the majority. The House vote outcome was 245-189 which approved the GOP bill meant for scrapping the law. As it is well known the health care reform law was passed last year by the Congress after a prolonged battle between the two political parties and it happened at a time when the ruling democrats were in control of both the Senate and The House. Interestingly three Democrats joined the Republicans in this voting. In all likelihood the Senate will not make the bill sail through the passage.
Even if the new bill gets approval from the Senate by any means the President himself will prove to the stumbling block. President Barack Obama has vowed that he will use veto to thwart any attempt to repeal his cherished health care bill. House Speaker John Boehner said that the GOP members will try their level best to repeal the president endorsed health care bill. He said they are dead against it because “it is going to increase spending, increase taxes and destroy jobs in America.”
The online polls conducted on the law indicate that the residents of America are divided about the health care law. A large section of the US residents are of the opinion it could hurt the economy in the long run. Timothy Geithner the Treasury Secretary thinks the repeal of the law will affect the economy in an adverse way.
