Landmark US health reform bill to be modified

Washington, March 25 (DPA) The US’ landmark health reform bill appears set to be sent back to the House of Representatives for a final vote before becoming law, a media report said Thursday.
The Republican opposition, which strongly opposes the bill, had found two relatively minor provisions that were likely to be struck from the legislation, a spokesman for Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was quoted as saying by the Wall Street Journal.
“After hours of scrubbing the bill, this is the best they can come up with,” spokesman Jim Manley said. “I’m confident this can be addressed quickly in the House,” he said.
President Barack Obama Tuesday signed into law the dramatic overhaul of the country’s health care system that aims to provide nearly all Americans with access to at least some form of health insurance.
Republican opposition to two points, reportedly relating to student loans, were raised during an all-night voting session.
