Lalu confident of forming government in Bihar

Patna, Nov 21 (IANS) A day after exit polls predicted a landslide victory for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s alliance, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Sunday claimed that he will form the next government in the state with a two-thirds majority.
“I am sure and confident that the RJD and LJP (alliance partner Lok Janshakti Party) will form the next government in Bihar. The exit polls are nothing, it is going to be proved wrong,” a smiling Lalu Prasad said at a press meet here.
“RJD-LJP combine is coming to power. Please don’t believe the exit polls,” he said, flashing a victory sign.
The RJD supremo also came down heavily on TV channels which predicted a win for Nitish Kumar led Janata Dal (United)-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance.
“It is a well planned psychological war and a conspiracy to mentally torture millions of voters,” Lalu Prasad said.
He said the TV programmes on Bihar polls were views, not news.
“They have engaged in views instead of news. It is not good for a healthy democracy,” he said.
Lalu Prasad said that all the exit polls were ‘paid’ news.
“We have decided that a delegation of RJD-LJP members will meet the Election Commission after the results and request it not to allow such guessing in future,” he said.
The sixth and final phase of the polls to the 243-member state assembly concluded Saturday. The polls were largely peaceful, except for stray incidents of Maoist violence.
Counting of votes will be taken up Wednesday.
