Kerala minister loses party post
January 14th, 2012 - 8:18 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Jan 14 (IANS) Kerala’s Forest and Sports Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar was Saturday stripped of his post of vice-chairman of the Kerala Congress (B) by his father and party chairman R. Balakrishna Pillai for coming late to a party meet.
Pillai told reporters here that since his son did not come on time for the election of office bearers, he has been removed from his post.
“The rule is that one person should propose and another should second it, and the candidate has to be present and agree. But since Kumar walked in late and was not present at the election, he cannot hold the post of vice-chairman,” said Pillai.
Reacting to the development, Kumar said that he will not cling to any post.
“I am told that my party will come out in two weeks on what needs to be done and once the party makes it clear, then I too will speak out,” said Kumar, who is into his third term as legislator.
Filmstar-turned-politician Kumar is the lone legislator of the Kerala Congress (B).
Pillai could not contest the April 2011 assembly polls as he was in jail here after being convicted in a case by the Supreme Court.
Since his release, relations between him and his son have been tense.
