Tallahassee, Aug 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) If the Republicans are in a mood to trust some fresh faces with the November Gubernatorial election job, then on the other hand Democrats are bestowing their hope on some party stalwarts. On Tuesday Representative Kendrick Meek went on to win the Florida Democrat Primary election leaving behind outsider billionaire Jeff Greene. Kendrick Meek registered an early lead and as the precincts started reporting his position became all the more strong and victory seemed obvious for the leader who was backed reportedly by President of United States Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton.
Kendrick Meek, a four-time congressman from Miami had put around $4.7 million for the campaign according to the disclosure report filed at the Federal election Commission. The leader won the hearts of the democrat voters by projecting himself as an underdog who wants to help the common people. Although Kendrick Meek was seen lagging behind Jeff Greene at the beginning of the campaign, his position in the poll results soared up in the last few weeks. On Tuesday with 36 percent of the precincts reporting, Kendrick Meek was seen leading over Jeff Greene by a huge margin. The former was able to carry the lead for the rest of the night. As per reports, with 95 percent of precincts reporting, Kendrick Meek was found leading over opponent Jeff Greene by 57-31 percent.
The win sets Kendrick Greene against Republican nominee Marco Rubio and Governor Charlie Crist. Charlie Crist came out of the Republic Party on April to campaign as an independent candidate for the November Senate election. After Kendrick Meek’s win on Tuesday Jeff Greene declared that he would support the Democrat candidate in “every step of the way” to the Senate election.
