Dec. 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Keith Olbermann, on his show “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” commented on the health care reform bill. Well, not exactly. He rather commented on the unhappiness that has been professed by the head of the Democratic Party, and the erstwhile Senator, Howard Dean. The most surprising aspect of the comment was that it seemed to make his political allegiance very much public. His comment made it very clear that he does not want the health care reform bill to be passed.
In the show, “Countdown With Keith Olbermann”, the host completely agreed with the views that have been brought forward by Howard Dean. He felt that the misgivings that the former Senator has professed about certain items in the bill are very much valid. He further went on to say that President Barack Obama should actually pass a negative vote against the bill when it is proposed in the Parliament. However, he also mentioned that the president needs to do so only if the bill still contains the mandate that Americans who don’t purchase the policy will be penalized.
Keith Olbermann went on to vote very strongly against the health care reform bill, saying that it had been much better in its earlier version, and even went so far as to take the names of certain politicians he believed to have destroyed the bill. The principal target in his harangue seemed to have been Senator Joe Lieberman, but he was most vocal in his protest against the buy-or-face-penalty clause of the bill, and insisted that it be ruled out from the bill.
