Hyderabad, Dec 11 (IANS) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao was discharged from the hospital Friday, a day after he broke a 11-day fast-unto-death demanding a separate Telangana state.
KCR, as he is popularly known, went to his house in Banjara Hills neighbourhood accompanied by his family members and some TRS leaders.
The Mahabubnagar MP broke the fast in the early hours of Thursday after the central government agreed to his demand for separate statehood for the Telangana region.
KCR was arrested near Karimnagar town when he was on his way to Siddipet town in Medak district to launch a fast-unto-death. He was taken to Khammam town, where a court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
KCR, however, launched the fast in jail. The next day he was admitted to a hospital in Khammam town.
The TRS president was shifted to Hyderabad Dec 3 after his condition deteriorated. The government later withdrew all the cases against him.
On Wednesday night, as the condition of the 55-year-old deteriorated, the central government announced its decision to initiate steps for a separate Telangana state.
