Karunanidhi praises Mamata Banerjee on budget

Chennai, Feb 24 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Wednesday welcomed Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to look at the laying of new rail lines from the social welfare perspective rather than economic viability.
Thanking Banerjee for new trains and laying of new lines in her budget, Karunanidhi expressed his happiness at the budget announcements about setting up of sports academy in Chennai, expansion of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and on the expansion of the suburban railway services here.
He also appreciated Banerjee for not hiking the passenger as well as the freight fares.
