Karunakaran’s condition deteriorates

Karunakaran’s condition has again deteriorated and he is seriously ill, the hospital said Thursday.According to a medical bulletin, Karunakaran has been put on full ventilation. A scan revealed that following a stroke Wednesday, the brain stem had been damaged.
The heartbeat is being sustained with medication, it said.
The 92-year-old Congress veteran, admitted to a private hospital here since Dec 10, was taken off the ventilator last week after his condition improved.
But on Wednesday morning he had another bout of breathlessness, and he was put back on the ventilator.
