Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In the wake of former senator John Edwards accepting the paternity of an illicit child, it has been revealed that the Democrat leader has finally decided to get legally separated from his wife Elizabeth Edwards. The news has been confirmed by the former North Carolina Senator himself who released a statement about his split from his wife of more than thirty years.

In the statement, John Edwards has described his separation as an extremely sad moment for him as he still deeply cares for his estranged wife. At the same time, a friend of Elizabeth Edwards, Andrea Purse has also confirmed the split and has reiterated that in a bid to move on with her life Elizabeth Edwards has taken the decision to put the painful phase behind her.

According to certain reports, the two-time Democratic presidential candidate’s wife also visited the 23 month old love child Frances Quinn Hunter, who was fathered by her husband out of wedlock.

The former Senator recently issued a press release in which he admitted that he was indeed the father of campaign videographer Rielle Hunter’s daughter, who was the outcome of an extramarital affair that John Edwards had with her mother during his presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, John Edwards’ former aide Andrew Young has revealed in his new book ‘The Politician’, that the former Senator wanted to keep the details of his affair a secret as he did not want to leave his wife, who was battling cancer at that time. Moreover, the book also claims that John Edwards asked his former aide to cover up the affair and promised to help him in future.
