john-edwards May 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) John Edwards, former US Senator is in the hot seat again. He was summoned to appear yesterday, and finally give an account of his affair with Rielle Hunter and his account of whether or not campaign cash was spent to hide the ensuing pregnancy. Edwards was at one time a contender to the presidency of the United States, and such information could have ruined his campaign.

John Edwards’ affair was exposed to the world as his wife was battling breast cancer. As if this were not bad enough, it soon came out that his mistress, Rielle Hunter had given birth to his child, and that Edwards had convinced an aide to claim paternity in order to hide Edwards’ indiscretions from his family, the press and the world. He went so far as to tell the aide to find a doctor who would lie about the DNA results. That aide was Andrew Young, who went on to write a book about the whole ordeal. In the book Young also gave details of a sex tape that was made with the former Senator of North Carolina, and his mistress.

Now Edwards is finally having to speak out and give an account for his actions. He was questioned on whether or not he used government money to help him hide Rielle from the world. He was summoned to give testimony in a lawsuit filed by Hunter to regain the tape from Young, who is claiming to have gotten rid of all of the copies. His attorneys were also to ask Edwards whether or not he had used campaign funds to hide Hunter out in mush accommodations. The federal grand jury is questioning Edwards claim that he did not use the funds in an inappropriate way. “I am confident that no funds from my campaign were used improperly,” the former North Carolina senator said last year. “However, I know that it is the role of government to ensure that this is true. We have made available to the United States both the people and the information necessary to help them get the issue resolved efficiently and in a timely manner.”
