Washington, Jan 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former US Senator John Edwards of North Carolina has revealed that he fathered a daughter with his mistress Rielle Hunter. “I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves,” Edwards said in a statement. He also added that though earlier denied that he was the baby’s father, he accepts it now and wants to apologize about it too. He said that he had disappointed and hurt a lot of people, and that he is truly sorry about it now. “It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me”, he added.

As far as his affair admission was concerned, he had earlier admitted that Rielle Hunter was his mistress. This affair took place when he was campaigning for the Democratic Presidential nomination. Rielle Hunter was given a contract by his campaign managers to make short videos about his campaign, and so she traveled extensively with John Edwards. She was paid a sum of $114,000 for the job.

Rielle Hunter gave birth to her daughter Quinn in February 2008. John Edwards kept on denying that he was Quinn’s father for more than a year. He claimed that the affair between them was over, before Rielle Hunter became pregnant. However now he had a change of heart and admitted that he is indeed Quinn’s father, and that it was very wrong on his part to deny it.
